Living at The Davitt by havitat in Dublin 12 feels like the best of both worlds – a calm, well-equipped home right beside the Grand Canal, with the city always just a few minutes away.
I usually start the day fairly early. There’s something about being so close to the Grand Canal that makes it easy to get outside first thing. I’ll head out for a short walk or cycle along the canal before the day properly begins. It’s a nice mix of people out at that hour, some commuting, some running, some just taking their time.

If I’m not in a rush, I’ll stop for a coffee nearby in Inchicore or Kilmainham before heading back. Unfiltered Coffee is one of the spots I keep coming back to. The coffee is great, the atmosphere is cosy, and it’s the kind of place where you can sit for a while or just grab something to go. It was also recently named the best coffee shop in Ireland and ranked 56th in the World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops for 2026, which feels well deserved once you’ve been there.

Back at The Davitt, everything feels straightforward. The apartment is bright and genuinely comfortable to live in. Parcels are handled through a secure digital system, there’s complimentary WiFi across the development, and if I need a change of scenery while working, the co-working space offers a great alternative. It’s quiet, and my work gets done. And after work, having the gym on-site makes it easy to fit a workout into the day.

When I’m heading out, the Goldenbridge Luas Stop is just a minute from the front door. From there, I can reach Dublin city centre in around 15 minutes. Last-minute plans are so much easier when you don’t have to think too much about travel.

On slower days, I stay local and wander around the area. Inchicore has a strong neighbourhood feel, with a good mix of older and newer spots. The Black Lion and The Patriots Inn are close by for a quiet drink, and over in Kilmainham, The Royal Oak has a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere – it’s right in among the historic streets near Kilmainham Gaol, which is worth the wander in itself.

Life at The Davitt isn’t about one big standout thing. It’s the smaller details that add up – the canal on the doorstep, the easy commute, the apartment that just works day to day. The city is close, the neighbourhood has real character, and home is somewhere you actually want to be. Honestly, it’s hard to ask for more
