Rathmines on a Budget: Live Well Without Overspending

Havitat’s residents at Rathmines Square don’t have to spend a lot to enjoy life in Rathmines. Whether it’s great food, local culture, or something a little different, there are plenty of affordable options nearby for them to enjoy. Here are some of our local favorites:

1. Two Fifty Square

Down a small lane just off Rathmines Road, this café has a clean, modern feel and takes its coffee seriously. They roast their own beans on-site and offer options such as El Cupertino, Hibiscus Macha, and iced Vietnamese coffee. The granola bowls are big and filling, and there’s a nice outdoor area if the weather’s good.

Price Range: €3–€9

2. Grove Road Café

Just a quick 8 minute walk away from Rathmines Square by havitat and right beside the canal, Grove Road is a solid spot for breakfast or brunch. They’ve got toasties, granola pots, and simple healthy dishes. It’s casual enough to grab something quickly, but also has a few comfy seats if you want to stay and chill for some Coconut Granola and Porridge.

3. MART Gallery & Market

Based in an old fire station just 2 minutes from Rathmines Square, MART runs free exhibitions and a small art market on weekends. You’ll find things like prints, jewellery, ceramics, and food stalls, all from local makers. Running Wednesday to Sunday, every week from 11 AM to 5 PM.

4. Greenville Deli

Great sandwiches and salads with loads of flavour just 6 minutes walk away from Rathmines Square. This spot is run by a former chef from Lotts & Co., and it shows. Try their vegan sausage roll or breakfast sandwiches, really good quality without being too fancy.

Price Range: €3–€7

5. Stella Cinema

One of the nicest cinemas in Dublin is just 5 minutes from Rathmines Square. The Stella has comfy couches, blankets, and a cocktail bar upstairs. Many of the movies have their armchair tickets at an affordable rate, so why not enjoy a fancy theatre experience on budget?

6. Rody Bolands

This pub has been around for decades and is full of old photos, signs, and vintage stuff and it is just 7 minutes walk from Rathmines Square. They serve solid pub food, have a big drinks menu, and often have live music or DJs. Definitely a go-to after a long day.

Price Range: €4.30–€10

7. Grace’s 

Grace’s is a small pub just off Rathgar Road, 6 minutes away, known for its live Irish music on Friday and Saturday nights. It’s a laid-back spot with a great atmosphere and few tourists.

Price Range: €5.50–€6.50

Rathmines has plenty to offer for those who want to enjoy life without stretching their budget. Whether you’re grabbing a coffee, catching some live music, or picking up something unique at the market, there’s always something happening nearby.
